Carla and Matt

Wedding Date – Friday 23rd September 2022
‘An Intimate September Wedding with a Navy and Blush Pink Colour Scheme’

What was your inspiration for your special day?

Our only inspiration was to have a small, close-knit wedding. My personal inspiration was my mamma, she would have loved to be at our wedding and supported us in so many ways, so I decided to have forget me knots included in all the flowers including the centre pieces. Even though she wasn’t physically with us, she was in our special way.

What was the best part of your day?

Ooh that is soo hard! We loved every second of our day, I personally would say a moment that I will never forget, is walking down the aisle to Matt. It was a moment that I wish could have lasted longer than it did. It was the best feeling having everything you’ve dreamed about and everything you’ve planned come together before your eyes and in that moment nothing else mattered.

Matt and I often talk about the wedding and say how we loved the feel on the day, there was so much love from everyone, and you really could feel it, to see everyone having an amazing time and celebrating our marriage was so special.

How did you decide which menu was right for your day?

As we had an intimate wedding with the ceremony taking place at 4pm. If we had a sit-down meal, it wouldn’t be long until the evening food. We wanted something but something light, when we saw the option for afternoon tea, it was perfect, we even got to choose two different ones. It was brilliant for a nice, relaxed feel and it suited the whole guest list.

What was the hardest part of your wedding planning?

The hardest part I would have to say is, you can only plan so much yourself that you must leave it up to the suppliers you have hired. I found this really hard as I wasn’t in control of what was happening and I did have doubt nearer the time. What if people didn’t show? Or the decorations didn’t look right together? What if the colours don’t blend? Daft thoughts really but you want everything to go perfectly and want zero hiccups on the day. Trust yourself and the people you’ve hired, and it will all turn out just how you wanted it to.

What were your favourite parts of Cockliffe Country House?

Our favourite part is the Elliott Suite, it’s a room that looks amazing without even being dressed for a wedding, I think a little goes a long way in there, utterly breathtaking.

Also, the Grounds at Cockliffe are perfect, we were lucky enough to have great weather so we provided garden games for our guests. This enabled us to use the whole space, and the area where the venue is makes for stunning photos.

If you have any advice for new marrying couples, what would it be?

Trust what you want and go with it, it’ll all work out. If you don’t know how you want your wedding to look speak to Sacha and the team, she’s incredible and will guide you the whole way through. Also, I would say book early! Not only your venue but all your suppliers, we booked everything straight away and got everyone we wanted. The last thing you want to be doing is getting yourself stressed because you can’t find the right suppliers!

Finally, take a minute on the day to sit back and look at everyone enjoying themselves – you’ve done that! Look at yourselves, you’ve had the most magical wedding! Take it all in, as I know everyone says it, but it really is over so quickly. Months and months of planning to be done in a day!
